TOMMY WRIGHT is delighted Scotland’s Euro hopefuls are supporting each other.

St Johnstone face Pedro Caixinha’s new-look Rangers today behind closed doors at Murray Park and Aberdeen at McDiarmid Park on July 1.

Wright’s Perth men have also been given access to Murray Park for a game with Connah’s Quay on Saturday in the countdown to the Europa League qualifying ties with Lithuanians FK Trakai.

He said: “It is difficult getting games at this time of year so it is great that the Scottish clubs are helping each other prepare.

“Going to Murray Park I might play a team for an hour and change it for 30 minutes. It is great getting two games there because it is a good surface.

“We’re delighted Rangers are giving us the use of their facilities.”

Wright, who lost Tam Scobbie to Dundee United and is sweating on the fitness of Brian Easton, has been taking a close look at former Kilmarnock winger James Dayton and ex-Port Vale and Rochdale left-back Scott Tanser.

Both players will get a chance to shine against Rangers as Wright confirmed he wants to make a quick decision.

He said: “It’s unfair to keep people hanging on so a decision will be made one way or another by the end of the week.

“I have to be careful I don’t jump in too early because I do have a couple of targets in mind and they are probably a bit more expensive. But my aim is to strengthen the squad here.

“It was no secret I was targeting Stefan Scougall for Europe. I wanted him signed. We are still looking at other signings.

“We have a list of registered players in with UEFA but we can make one change before next week.

“I have really only got four senior defenders and the plan was always to have five backed up by younger lads.

“We need to get a defender in. There is no questioning the ability of the youngsters but we need a natural left-back.”

Wright is hoping a knee injection does the trick for regular left-back Easton.

He said: “Hopefully he can get some game time at the weekend.

“I am hoping he is going to be fit for Europe.”
