Fiona focused on bright future for the game
FIONA McINTYRE is looking forward to the challenges ahead after joining Scottish Women’s Football as executive officer.
The new role has been designed to bring leadership at an important time for the women’s game.
And McIntyre, formerly a sports development officer at Glasgow Sport, knows there is much work to be done.
She said: “I’m excited about my new role and hope to see a continued increase in participation at all levels of the game, while improving the quality and visibility of our competitions.
“With the backing of the board, SWF are building a fantastic team to deliver the very best service for clubs and players across all of Scotland.
“While the leagues stop for the summer break, all the SWF staff will be over in Holland cheering on the national team at the Euros.”
Scottish Women’s Football – who govern the game and oversee senior and youth leagues as well as the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup – have also appointed Lorna Cameron as competitions and events administrator.
The board, chaired by Vivienne MacLaren, have embarked on a growth strategy working closely with commercial partners and the SFA.
MacLaren said: “We are seeing an increased interest in the game, which is brilliant.
“These two great appointments and our expanding team will ensure we have the right infrastructure and plans in place to make sure each and every girl and woman who wants to play the game actually can.”
