TARTAN ANGRY FANS DENIED TICKETS Fans miss Scotland v England game after seller says his briefs had been pinched.. then he’s charged with wasting police time

FOOTBALL fans were robbed of the chance to see Scotland take on England after a supporter failed to deliver tickets. Chancer James Quinn, 35, let down more than a dozen Tartan Army foot soldiers before the biggest game of the year. They vented their anger online, claiming more than 60 supporters – who each bought £42 tickets from him – missed the match. Unrepentant Quinn, from Aberdeen, claimed he’d been robbed of the briefs on the eve of the game. He reported the “mugging” to the police but was later charged with wasting officers’ time. Supporter Jimmy Davis broke the news on Facebook with a message and two photos of Quinn. He said: “‘This man here is James Quinn, Scotland travel club member and Dundee fan. “This man is nothing but a liar and a thief (scumbag). This man claimed he had tickets for 67 people for the Scotland v England game. “He claimed on Friday he was robbed and the tickets were stolen from the robbery. He reported it to police but was then later charged himself for wasting police time about a fake robbery. “This disgusting man doesn’t deserve Scotland’s support.” Fan Ashleigh Yule wrote: “Bad enough we never got our Scotland tickets but now James Quinn isn’t giving us our money back for them – over £500. “Thirteen people altogether without our money. Everyone be careful of this man – not to be trusted. Don’t buy any tickets from him.” While James McGarry said: “Someone must know him and knows his address please share. This is the p **** that took all our money for the Scotland England tickets. James Quinn, you will be found soon.”

Quinn, a well-known figure in Tartan Army circles, claimed he had tickets for sale ahead of the big match and scores of supporters were said to have parted with cash.

It has since been established that 14 supporters have been adversely affected, although all have been refunded by their respective banks’ fraud teams.

We tracked down Quinn to his flat in Aberdeen where he refused to apologise to the angry fans.

He claimed he’d repaid all but one of those involved from his own pocket.

Answering the door in just his jogging bottoms, he told us he got the tickets through his SFA membership.

He said: “I was mugged in Dundee on the Friday before the game. I was going to give the tickets out on the bus before the game on Saturday.

“I have refunded them out of my own pocket.”

Quinn claimed he’d been suspended from his job in Aldi because of the online reaction.

He added: “All I want to do is get this sorted between me and them. I can understand why people are angry.

“I’m not going to apologise because that would be me admitting I’ve done something wrong. It wasn’t my fault, I was mugged.”

Last night a police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that they were called to Dunholm Road, Dundee, around 2am on Saturday, June 10, in response to a report of a robbery having occurred there.

“The matter has been investigated in full and, as a result, a 35-year-old man has been charged with wasting police time.”
