TWILIGHT MURDERER’S CALM CONFESSION ON TAPE Moment teen told how he killed girlfriend’s family
A CHILLINGLY calm murder confession from “Twilight” killer Lucas Markham will be heard on TV for the first time tonight.
Lucas and his girlfriend Kim Edwards were just 14 when they killed Kim’s mum Elizabeth and younger sister Katie in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
The couple, the UK’s youngest double killers, then took a bath together to wash the blood off before watching a Twilight vampire film and having sex.
Kim was jealous of the attention her mum gave to Katie, 13 – and Lucas is believed to have begrudged Elizabeth for trying to end his relationship with Kim.
In a calm voice, Lucas is heard telling police officers: “I went into her mum’s room and stabbed her in the neck while she was asleep on her side and smothered her face with a pillow.
“And after I knew she had gone, I went into Katie’s room and I thought I stabbed her but I’m not 100 per cent sure if it was her or the mattress and then I smothered her face with a pillow too.”
He then admits to police he and Kim mutually agreed to kill the pair but adds he “pretty much” only killed teenager Katie to avoid her calling police.
The victims were found two days after they were murdered on April 15 last year, in their blood-spattered bedrooms.
The police officer who led the investigation, Detective Superintendent Martin Holvey, told Channel 5 that neither killer showed any remorse during questioning by police and that their confessions were “just like they’re telling a story”.
He added: “You actually recount the story to your team and everyone sits there – hardened detectives – and thinks, ‘I can’t believe what I’m hearing’.
“You know, over 30 years as a cop, you look at this case and there’s nothing that rivals it that I’ve come across. A really brutal, chilling, cold and callous act that was carried out by these two children on two defenceless victims.”
Elizabeth’s boyfriend, lorry driver Graham Green, also speaks on screen for the show Murdered by my Daughter, likening Kim to a Moors Murderer.
Reliving the moments after the murder, he said: “I think she’s another Myra Hindley as far as I’m concerned. She should be never, never let out, ever. She’s trying to put, trying to put herself on the map. How would you go about planning to kill your mother and your own sister? How can you plan that?
“Me and Elizabeth would have had, what, 30 years to live between us, because we always said we were going to grow old together.
“And then Katie, she had all her life in front of her. I don’t think they should be let out at all.”
Lucas pleaded guilty to murder and Kim was convicted of murder after a trial. Both are now serving life sentences.
Earlier this month, the Court of Appeal reduced the minimum time they must serve from 20 years to 17-and-a-half years.
The court also upheld the trial judge’s order that allowed them both to be identified publicly, instead of being guaranteed anonymity because of their ages. ● Murdered by my Daughter is on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm
