McInnes: No bad blood over Jack deal

-

ABERDEEN boss Derek McInnes insists he holds no grudge against Ryan Jack over his summer switch to Rangers.

The former Dons skipper told McInnes he wasn’t interested in a move to Ibrox just a month before he pitched up in Govan.

The Pittodrie gaffer then stripped Jack of the armband for the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic after it seemed certain he was heading to Gers.

But as he reflected on Jack’s switch to Ibrox, McInnes said: “Players make their decisions and we wish them well with that.

“There is no animosity at all. I’ll speak to every one of my players in the future who have left.”

Jonny Hayes also joined Celtic after McInnes gave the Irishman his word he wouldn’t stand in the way of a big move when the winger signed a new deal.

He said: “Jonny leaves with our best wishes and I can understand the disappointment that we haven’t managed to keep him.”

Meanwhile, Niall McGinn has been offered a lucrative deal by South Korean side Gwangju FC.

Club president Ki Young-ok is the father of McGinn’s former Celtic team-mate Ki Sung-Yueng and travelled to Belfast to meet the Northern Ireland star.

McGinn decided to leave the Dons at the end of the season and is also attracting interest from English Championship clubs.

Fans hoped a Pittodrie return could be on the cards but that doesn’t appear to be an option.
