Help us find out how our Kirsty died

Family of tragic hotel balcony fall Scot go to Benidorm for answers

BALCONY plunge Scot Kirsty Maxwell’s family have travelled to Spain to uncover the truth about her death.

Kirsty, 27, fell 100ft from a 10th-floor apartment window in Benidorm on April 29.

But mystery still surrounds the exact circumstances of her death more than two months on.

So her loved ones have travelled to Spain to seek potential witnesses and put up posters appealing for information over the case.

Husband Adam, who married Kirsty in September, said yesterday: “It’s very hard to come back here but we have to for Kirsty. It’s something I had to do.

“There are still a lot of unanswered questions and the only way to get these answered is to come back here. For me personally, it is something I had to do.

“I could not rest until I get answers and find out what happened to Kirsty.”

Kirsty’s dad, Brian Curry, said: “There are too many parts to it which are missing.

“We feel that by coming out here we can push things on hopefully.”

Kirsty was staying in the Apartamentos Payma in the Little England area of Benidorm while on a hen weekend with 21 other friends. Just before she fell, she had gone into an apartment where five British men were staying.

It’s unclear how Kirsty, from Livingston, ended up in the room occupied by the five men.

Only one of the men in the room at the time, Joseph Graham, 32, was initially under investigation.

But the judge who is investigating the case, Ana Garcia-Galbis, extended the probe to cover his friends, Ricky Gammon, 31, Anthony Holehouse, 34, Callum Northridge, 27, and Daniel Bailey, 32.

Legal sources in Spain said moves could be put in place to compel the men to return to face questioning but this would take time.

A hearing is scheduled for the end of this month.

Kirsty’s family are due to meet police in Spain today to discuss the progress of the case.
