Almost caught at his near post in the first-half by a clever Olivier Thill free-kick. Great save from Francoise. No real chance with either of the goals.
James Tavernier 4
Made some powerful runs down the right flank beyond winger Candeias as he overlapped with good effect. Unable to find the right pass from a couple of decent positions.
David Bates 4
Young centre-back kept his place and no easy task against the physical threat of the powerful Karapetian. Tried his best.
Fabio Cardoso 4
Portuguese defended with strength at the back. Distribution not great and wasted a first-half chance. Found wanting when asked a question after the break.
Lee Wallace 4
Combined down left side with his experienced partner Miller and produced great ball for Kranjcar. Got away with losing Francoise when Foderingham saved and first goal came from his side.
Ryan Jack 5
Back at the scene of a defeat with Aberdeen a year earlier and had to suffer the agony again. Was assured for most of the contest trying to keep it calm and was just about the best player.
Jordan Rossiter 4
Scouser got a first start for 10 months in place of Jason Holt. Kept it simple but could have done things a little quicker in terms of tempo and Herrera took over.
Daniel Candeias 4
Portuguese winger took starting place of countryman Dalcio. Dropped inside to let Tavernier get around him. Didn’t do anywhere near enough and hooked.
Niko Kranjcar 4
Floated around looking to find pockets of space and make killer passes. Stabbed a good shooting over and missed a crucial headed chance with the scoreline blank.
Kenny Miller 5
Scorer in the first leg was denied opportunities. Didn’t take advantage of a half-sniff before the break. Never stopped working as he tried to prevent the disaster and hit the bar in injury time.
Alfredo Morelos 3
First start for the Colombian striker. Got a knock on his knee after 28 seconds. Couldn’t round keeper when had a chance and replaced at half-time.
Subs: Dalcio – Portuguese had little impact after he replaced Morelos at the interval, 2. Josh Windass – helped create a chance for Kranjcar, but gave away freekick for the winner. Hit the bar late on, 2. Eduardo Herrera – no looks at the target, 1.
