BAND PREDICT A RIOT WITH PALS KASABIAN

-

THE KOOKS MAIN STAGE SATURDAY

EXPECT a riot at TRNSMT tomorrow – at least backstage.

The Kooks are ready to party with pals Kasabian as they both play the main stage on Saturday at the Glasgow Green event.

The group, led by Luke Pritchard, will get it on after they play the stage earlier in the day, with Kasabian headlining the second night of Scotland’s newest festival.

Bassist Peter Denton said they were planning for a “really fun weekend”. He said: “We love Glasgow, we’ve played the Barrowland loads and we are always made to feel really welcome in this city.

“It’s always a total riot, the only problem is the headache you have for the next three weeks.

“We’re excited about TRNSMT, we love a festival even if it is hard to keep it together. We’re mates with Kasabian so it’s going to be a riot if we see them. It’s going to be a really fun weekend.”

The group celebrated their 10-year anniversary with The Best of...So Far in May which reached No18 and included singalongs like Always Where I Need to Be, Naive and She Moves in Her Own Way.

Four studio albums – including No1 Konk and No2 debut Inside In/Inside Out – later, a shoogle of the line-up and they’re still going strong.

On the back of a sold-out European tour, thet are gearing up for an appearance at the inaugural TRNSMT festival tomorrow.

The key to their continued success, says Pete, is to be a fan boy yourself, and remain humble.

“It’s really important to stay humble and be a fan boy of other groups, don’t get up yourself and keep a good attitude,” he said.

“We tour the world and I’m constantly shocked when we get to a country like Argentina and there’s thousands of people turning out to see us. I’ll never get used to that and that’s the way it should be.

“I still get nervous but it’s an excited nervousness, which is good for you.

“And at the end of the day I think we’re still going because we enjoy what we do.”

The Kooks are planning a Best of Arena tour at the end of the year.

Pete said: “The best thing about being in the group is performing live. That’s what it’s all about so we’re not going to stop.”
