TWINNING ATTITUDE

Rockers are keeping a rebellious vibe for their latest album..and looking forward to TRNSMT BY MICKEY McMONAGLE

to do what we want. Again, it was a restart, a reset. It will be a continuation of that but may not sound the same, it’s the attitude.” Although they’re a huge draw on Sunday’s line-up, Sam is more excited about some of the other acts on the bill than his own slot. And one in particular is a huge thrill for the arty rocker – so he’s going tonight to see them perform. He grinned: “I would be going to TRNSMT as a fan if I wasn’t playing. “I am actually going tonight to see Radiohead. I love Radiohead, I absolutely love them. “Oh my God, man, they are so good. “Even when I listen to them in among other things, it still stands out. “The Bends came out 20 years ago and it is still head and shoulders above anything else. “Obviously now it’s the playlist generation so everything is mixed up but when anything by Radiohead comes on it is just a schooling in any genre where anyone holds a guitar.

“They can be really heavy, cinematic, whatever they want, they’re head and shoulders above everyone else.

“They were like a Britpop band and now they are their own thing, entirely on their own little island.”

And there’s plenty more on the bill over the weekend that Sam would like to see.

There’s a mutual appreciation between Twin and Catfish and the Bottlemen – to the point the English outfit used to obsess over early Twin artwork.

“Catfish are an exciting band. We met them at a festival and the singer Van rocked up to me and said we are one of their favourite bands. He told me they drove around listening to our first EP Vivarium and obsessing over the artwork and stuff.

“I didn’t even think they would know who we were, let alone love our band and be into the early stuff.

“They’re good guys and music fans, I really like the band a lot.”

However he is playing it safe tomorrow night by staying away to save his voice for show day.

“The Lafontaines headlining King Tut’s is great, that will be cool for them but I won’t see it.”

“I won’t go on Saturday in case I wreck my voice. I am a big fan of Kasabian, a huge fan.

“That’s why I’m not going to go as I know I couldn’t contain myself.”
