TRAPPED BY HIS OWN PLANNING

-

them again.” Elaine, who has a new partner, added: “Mike and I are still married because I haven’t got the money to pay for a divorce.”

She said there have been tears and upheaval for her and her sons as they lived through the ordeal of Danaher’s trial and jailing for 34 years. She said: “There has been a lot of emotion from the kids.

“They have been lied to by their dad and have had a lot of emotional peaks and troughs.

“Fortunately, there haven’t been any problems at school. Their friends are 100 per cent behind them and all our family have been completely supportive. But there have been a lot of questions. Why did Dad do this? What was he hoping to achieve?

“My honest answer is I don’t know. Yes he’s done something really stupid, but I can’t change the fact he’s their dad.” During the trial, the jury heard DANAHER insisted he had killed Adrian Greenwood in self-defence after the book dealer attacked him. But investigators discovered he had drawn up a terrifying hit-list of celebrity targets. It included Simon Cowell, Kate Moss, Rio Ferdinand and Jeffrey Archer. He even had a floor plan of television presenter Anthea Turner’s home. The targets were listed in a document titled “Enterprises”.

He claimed in court that the list had been put together by a mystery man who he was afraid of.

He would not name the man, saying in court he had been threatened while on remand.

Danaher researched “silent killings” and even listed his method Danaher had taken redundancy but lost the lot in an investment scam and began plotting to rob wealthy people.

Elaine revealed that after the court case, she spoke to Adrian’s mother. Elaine said: “I said to her, ‘I’m pleased that you’ve got justice for your son. If it was me in that situation with Ryan or of capture, such as “stun” and “crate delivery”, before also highlighting his “expected take”.

His online searches included “Louise Redknapp house” and “Lineker house”.

He admitted buying a stun gun disguised as a black iPhone in December 2015.

Danaher was impassive as he was jailed for 34 years last October. Jacob, I would want justice for him as well. He can rest in peace now’.

“All she said to me was, ‘Just look after the boys’. That’s one mum to another.”

Elaine added: “What happened to the Greenwood family is an atrocity and people should sympathise with them.

“But people don’t think about how it affects the perpetrator’s family. People presume this would happen to a certain kind of family, but that’s not the case. We were a normal, happy, loving family.

“When you marry somebody, you think you know them. I just feel that I’ve never known him and that the whole marriage was not real.

“The hardest part was having to tell the boys that he’s going to be in prison until he’s about 85. And for what? Just because of money.” ● Catching A Killer: The Wind In The Willows Murder is on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm.
