still say ‘good morning’ y morning, and ‘good m every night, just as I r boys – so I’m not ever and say I’ve just got find myself saying, ‘I ons at home, and one which sorts of breaks it ntly. ays hoped there would ier way showing that child. wearing the Our ce badge, we are not only remembering Ben, but telling others about him in a gentle way.”

Nicole came up with the logo for the badge with the help of a designer friend. It depicts a heart, with a jigsaw-shaped piece missing from the bottom.

Last month, she was invited to launch her campaign at the Scottish Parliament – which also hopes to raise awareness of the use of the word “vilomah” to describe a parent who has lost a child.

All MSPs attending First Minister’s Questions wore the Our Missing Peace badge – including Nicola Sturgeon, who last year revealed she had lost a baby through miscarriage.

Nicole said: “Nicola Sturgeon gave me a hug on the day of the launch and I just knew that she got it – she understood what the campaign was all about.

“I’ve lost a baby through miscarriage and even suffered a phantom pregnancy after Ben died. I know the grief can be just as painful as losing a young child, or even being an older parent and losing an adult child. Our hearts still beat but our lives will never be the same again.

“It’s not about how, when or why your child died. It is about who that child was, how loved they were and all the hopes and dreams that you had for them.

“The aim of Our Missing Peace is to help break the silence in the world of child loss and make it easier for bereaved families to find the help they need.” ●To support Our Missing Peace, visit www.ourmissingpeace.org
