DUNDEE UNITED are set to sign Dutch midfielder Jordie Briels as they gear up for the big kick-off.

The 25-year-old midfielder has shone over the past week while on trial with the Tangerines who are stepping up their push for promotion back to the Premiership.

Briels, who began his career with Genk youths, has caught the eye of United boss Ray McKinnon whose side begin their Betfred Cup campaign at home to Raith Rovers this weekend.

McKinnon said: “Jordie has done really well for us during his trial here and is really fit and aggressive.

“We are really pleased and he would be a good addition to our 18-man squad.” LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS
