Tributes to tragic 25-year-old biker and keen angler killed in road smash
AN ANGLER was killed when he was thrown from his motorbike in a horror smash.
Macauley Tuck, who loved salmon fishing on the River Dee, died after a collision with a car as he made his way home at 5.20pm on Monday.
Yesterday, tributes were paid to the 25-year-old, who lived in the Deeside village of Torphins with his parents Shelley and Ian.
His family released a statement thanking friends and relatives for their support.
They added: “Macauley was a character and had a great sense of humour.
“He had many interests and particularly loved fishing, especially on the river Dee.
“He will be very sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues.”
Ross Macdonald, of the River Dee community organisation who manage the river and the salmon fishing, also paid tribute to Macauley.
He said: “He was just the type of young man our sport needs. I will remember him fondly.
“I first met Macauley in 2016 in our introduction to salmon fishing event. His enthusiasm was infectious.
“It was a pleasure to be around him. I was delighted to see him develop as a salmon fisher.
“I will always remember his unbridled joy when he caught his first fish last year and again this year when he landed a big springer. Our thoughts are with Macauley’s family and friends.”
The death of Macauley, who was originally from Newcastle, left fellow anglers shocked.
William Peake said: “Terrible news. His love of salmon fishing was amazing to see.
“A really top lad, such a loss. Thoughts to his family.”
Jane Hutcheon posted online: “Sorry to hear this. Lucky to have fished with him and learned a lot. Really sad, a life gone too soon.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the A980 at Milton of Campfield, between Banchory and Torphins in Aberdeenshire, to contact them. Officers said no one else was injured.
