Supermarket have big plans for the future

-

AFTER a multi-million pound extension to their HQ in Bathgate, followed by their 74th store opening, in Dumfries last week, Aldi plan to have 100 stores across Scotland by 2020.

They will all feature a new concept and design, with wider aisles and more space for fresh produce – reinforcing the company’s commitment to affordable, high-quality products that help ordinary Scots feed their families well.

“Scottish provenance is what we do,” says Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director at Aldi in Scotland.

It’s part of Aldi’s ongoing commitment to local producers and suppliers – as well as the environment, reducing food miles and stocking seasonal produce.

Graham said: “We are lucky enough to have a fantastic Scottish food and drink industry, and we want to support and work with the best producers in the country.

“The array of Scottish products on offer really demonstrates the quality of our larder in Scotland and we want to showcase those products on our shelves.

“But we can only do what we do by having the best producers on board.”

Scots know they are lucky enough to enjoy some of the best food and drink in the world, on their doorstep, and they love buying local – and Aldi have tapped into this.

With Aldi’s commitment to increase the Scottish range, this is even better news for supplier, producers and customers.
