GUSTAV A CHANCE

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

GUSTAV KLIMT could bid for top-level glory in the National Stakes at The Curragh.

Aidan O’Brien’s juvenile is ante-post favourite for the 2000 Guineas having shown class and guts to land the Group 2 Superlative at Newmarket.

The Galileo colt is thriving despite his hard race but will enjoy a short break before beginning preparations for September’s Group 1 contest.

O’Brien said: “Gustav Klimt would have learned a lot the last day, travelling over. He had to quicken and come through, as he didn’t get a clear run.

“Often it is a very good for the horse to experience all that stuff and learn a lot in a short space of time.

“The plan is that he might have an easy time, then train him for the National Stakes.”

ANOTHER ECLIPSE (6.45) can star for David Simcock on a cracking card at Yarmouth. The three-year-old has this season steadily improved and is on an attractive mark after bolting up in a Brighton maiden last time.

Don’t miss HART STOPPER (5.45) in the lady riders’ contest. Michael Bell’s gelding improved again when scoring at Haydock and will take all the beating under comeback queen Hayley Turner.

Dean Ivory’s SOARING SPIRITS (7.50) can wing it in the Aeropak Handicap.

The seven-year-old has hit form recently and can build on his good third at Nottingham in his current mood.

IRON LADY (8.20) gets my vote in the Freederm Handicap.

William Muir’s filly was just denied by the useful Lightroller at Bath and can go one better under James Doyle.

TAHOO (6.05) can land a trappy sprint at Sandown for Karl Burke.

The Zebedee filly caught the eye when making all at Windsor and will take some catching from a kind draw in stall 3. William Haggas’ HARBA (7.05) can coast to victory in the Pipe Centre Handicap.

The Frankel filly opened her account in a strong Beverley maiden and could be on a lenient mark switched to handicaps.

Haggas can complete a quick double with SELECTION (7.40).

The four-year-old relished the fast ground when landing a decent Yarmouth handicap and can follow up in first-time cheekpieces.
