Gers hit with fine by UEFA

-

From Back Page Flauss’s goal hit him with paper from the pre-match tifo display – and it’s now cost Rangers a hefty fine.

A UEFA statement read: “Rangers have been fined €7000. The charges against Rangers were related to the throwing of objects art. 16 (2) of the UEFA disciplinary regulations.”

Meanwhile, gaffer Pedro Caixinha admits Rangers will need to improve after losing 1-0 to St Johnstone in a closed-door friendly at Auchenhowie.

Gers lost to a late goal from Saints new boy Callum Hendry – son of former Ibrox captain Colin.

But Portuguese defender Bruno Alves, who only had his first training session with Rangers on Monday, will have to wait to make his debut after missing out against the Perth side.

Caixinha told Rangers TV: “The boys are getting the message and idea. We are creating a lot of scoring chances and we know the goals are going to appear at the right moment.

“There is nothing to be shocked or alarmed about – if the team was not producing or the team was not playing the philosophy we want from them then I would be worried.

“The boys are getting along and into the same rhythm and on Saturday we will be better.

“We will most definitely improve for our target of August 6.”

English midfielder Matt Crooks, who made just three appearances after signing for Rangers last July, has left the club in a £125,000 switch to Northampton.
