Construction bosses’ fears for the future

BOSSES’ confidence in the construction industry has been affected by fears over future work prospects.
Industry experts Scottish Construction Monitor asked Scottish Building Federation members to rate confidence in business prospects for the next 12 months.
After three consecutive quarters where confidence was given a “plus 2” rating, the survey showed a sevenpoint fall to “minus 5”.
Employers pointed to growing fears over future new work.
They said major projects such as the Queensferry Crossing and the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route are drawing to a close and there is a shortage of new work to fill the gaps.
