Fire warning over cheap TV boxes

-

SHOPPERS have been warned that dodgy cut-price TV streaming boxes could burn down their homes.

Some consumers are buying the boxes to avoid sky-high charges for premium TV services.

But Trading Standards investigators have found that they lack UK electrical safety measures to stop them catching fire.

The warning came after more than 40 boxes were seized in London by Trading Standards, the National Crime Agency and the Federation Against Copyright Theft.

Kieron Sharp of FACT said: “You may think there is nothing wrong with streaming premium channels for free, but you are breaking the law.”
