Ferrer’s champ
DAVID FERRER captured his first ATP Tour tennis title in almost two years yesterday at the Swedish Open in Bastad.
The 35-year-old Spaniard, who hasn’t won an event since the Vienna Open in 2015, beat Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine in straight sets.
Ferrer led 5-1 in the second set and needed seven match points before finally getting over the line with a 6-4 6-4 victory in one hour and 26 minutes.
It was the third time Ferrer had triumphed in Bastad following his wins in 2007 and 2012.
