RAY McKINNON last night declared Dundee United ready to go head to head with Dundee in Sunday’s derby clash at Dens.

The Tangerines made it a hat-trick of wins thanks to yesterday’s stroll against Cowdenbeath to claim outright leadership in Group C.

Goals from new signings Sam Stanton, before the break, and Billy King as well as Scott Fraser’s penalty and youngster Matthew Smith’s late strike kept their 100 per cent record intact.

McKinnon said: “I watched Dundee against Buckie Thistle and it will be a tough game at Dens.

“But at least we’ll go there on the back of some decent form. This win should set us up nicely for that derby.

“This will be my first derby as manager so I can’t wait. It should be an excellent experience.”

Cowdenbeath hit their consolation goal through Cameron Muirhead and boss Billy Brown said: “For a team that finished bottom of all the leagues last season I thought they acquitted themselves fairly well.”
