ROARIE DEACON felt gaffer Neil McCann was right to scrap their day off but insists they’ll be up for Sunday’s Dundee derby.

The Dark Blues were made to sweat yesterday instead of putting their feet up after McCann slated their performance in Saturday’s win over Buckie Thistle.

His new-look side, with a host of new signings on show, struggled through after goals from Faissal El-Bakhtaoui and Sofien Moussa made it back-to-back victories in their group.

But McCann was still far from impressed with their laidback attitude against the Highlanders and Deacon said: “The gaffer cancelled our day off but that’s football. You don’t deserve rewards after a performance like that.

“He wasn’t happy at all. All there was to be happy about was the win. He knows we can play better than that and so do we.

“After the game a few of the senior lads were saying it wasn’t good enough and nobody could disagree. We didn’t do anything well enough, defending or attacking.

“We didn’t keep the ball out of our box enough and allowed Buckie to impose themselves on us at times.

“We are the Premiership team and we should have had more than enough to go out and win that match easily.”
