ANDREW JOHNSTON still has a beef with the big-mouth radio shock jock who called him a clown.

The Englishman, known as Beef to his fans, was furious on Saturday when he got embroiled in a Twitter spat with TalkSport host Mike Parry – after the station poll asking if he was an inspiration or a clown.

Some critics, including Parry himself, accused Johnston of overreacting when he furiously lashed out, calling him a “d***head” and branding his show “s***”.

But after concluding his Open with a 71 for one over par, Beef insisted he’d always stand up for himself against personal insults.

Beef said: “I got in after my round yesterday and was shown a poll saying am I an inspiration or a clown? I kind of went off a little bit. It annoyed me. I had a few people message me and said, ‘Maybe you should listen to the show’. And it was actually worse listening to it.

“I don’t mind being criticised. If they put a poll out saying, ‘Maybe if he didn’t spend too much time with the fans would he play better?’ I’d understand that. But when he’s taking the piss out of my face, my teeth, it’s bang out of order. I’d do the same thing again, you’ve got to stand up.

“Would you take it if someone said, ‘Your beard looks s*** and you’ve got f ***** up teeth’. Would you take that? Exactly.

“I got a lot of support which was nice. The fans have been great too.”
