CORRIE CATH: FAT PIC HELPS KEEP ME THIN

Star’s snap as a size 22 teenager inspires her to stay slim

CORRIE star Catherine Tyldesley keeps a photo of herself as a size 22 teenager on her phone to stop her piling on pounds. The 33-year-old actress, who plays Eva Price in the ITV soap, was 15st when she was 18. She said: “When I look at pictures of myself from that time, it doesn’t look like me. I was a different person. “I actually keep a picture from when I was big on my phone to remind myself just how far I’ve come.”

Catherine told how she was known as “the fat funny one” in her group of friends in those days.

And she revealed a director once warned her she would “never be a leading lady” because of her weight.

But the jibe spurred her into action and she ditched junk food to lose more than 4st before landing her role in Coronation Street.

Catherine told Best magazine she use to gorge on crisps and chocolate before dinner.

She added: “I cut out all junk food and snacks and the weight came off quickly. By the time I was 19, I was a size 12.”

And the soap favourite revealed eating healthy home-cooked meals helped her to lose 2st after giving birth to son Alfie, who is now two.

Catherine says she’s a size eight or 10. She added: “In terms of body shape, I’m the smallest I’ve ever been.

“I’ve got nothing to complain about. I’m healthy.”
