Hedidn’t giveus respect

From Back Page now have a chance of reaching the last 16, took umbrage at Cathro’s postmatch comment that “new relationships are building” between the summer arrivals in the Hearts team.

The Blue Toon gaffer said: “It’s a challenge for us to get the squad together.

“It’s just a pity the Hearts manager doesn’t look at stuff like that because he should realise how lucky he is he has never needed to work at that level.

“For him to come out and say after the game that his team are still gelling when we had seven new players on the park, I don’t know where that puts us in the gelling stakes.

“And not to acknowledge that we did well ... I know he is not interested in us and whatever but I thought he was disrespectful.

“He never shook hands, he didn’t do it at all at any time after the game.

“He did before the game, probably when he thought he was going to walk over the top of us.”

It was another damaging defeat for Cathro whose record has been poor since replacing Robbie Neilson.

And former Hearts boss George Burley reckons he is living on borrowed time.

All four of the club’s league fixtures in August are away due to stadium renovations and Burley said: “If he doesn’t get off to a good start in the new season then he will be under pressure.

“It was not a big gamble to appoint Robbie. He had been a player and knew the club. But the new manager is a gamble and so far it hasn’t worked.”
