SIGNING OF THE SUMMER

RANGERS No.10 GETS 10 Dorrans exactly what Pedro’s side was needing OUT OF 10

- Dorrans can lift Rangers as he will excite the fans and win games with his flair

IT’S a time of uncertainty for Rangers fans waiting to judge Pedro Caixinha’s new regime but there’s one thing of which I am convinced already.

Graham Dorrans is the key signing of the summer – possibly even the most significant capture in Scottish football in this transfer window.

Last year I was pleased to see Joey Barton as the club’s marquee signing but of course that didn’t live up to its billing.

Celtic have also splashed out £4.5million on Olivier Ntcham but as much as I rate him, and did rate Barton, I’m even more excited about Dorrans – he is exactly what Rangers have been needing.

Apart from Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack the other guys they have signed are unknown quantities.

But Dorrans is for me the key. He plays the No.10 role behind the striker, can score goals and change a game when it’s not going for you.

When I heard they were after him I identified him as the key man so to get the deal over the line was a huge boost and to do it for around £1m is a good piece of business for a player of that class.

Guys who operate well in the final third don’t come cheap and he is undoubtedly a guy who will set goals up or score them himself.

It’s also well known he grew up as a Rangers fan and don’t underestimate the importance of that.

You must have that within the dressing room, you need players who know what the club is all about to help the foreign boys get
