Pedro: Serve up a Sheff’s special for fans

-

RANGERS boss Pedro Caixinha has urged his players to put on a show for the army of fans heading south for Sunday’s friendly with Sheffield Wednesday.

More than 10,000 supporters are expected to travel to Hillsborough for the pre-season clash with the Championship side.

And after beating Watford 2-1 in a closed-doors friendly on Wednesday, Caixinha is hoping his troops put their best foot forward again in front of a bumper crowd.

He said: “Over the next couple of days the boys will recover.

“We felt some touches in the Watford game so we have three days to totally recover.

“With these levels of confidence we just need to prepare the approach for Sunday at a stadium which will be crowded with 10,000 of our supporters.

“We want to show to them we are growing as a team, we are getting the momentum and we are getting to a good level.

“We also want to show we are getting ready to start the league and that’s the main point.”

Martyn Waghorn bagged a late winner against the Premier League outfit after Portuguese winger Daniel Candeias’s strike was cancelled out by Stefano Okaka.

And Caixinha was pleased with the Englishman who has vowed to fight for his place after the arrival of fresh blood up front.

He said: “Martyn is a hard worker who always gives his maximum. We like him a lot and it is important for strikers to get confidence up.”
