IBROX SNUB’S NO BIGI

NEW BOY UP FOR OPENER Torrid Gers spell in past for Well ace Gael who can’t wait to face old side

the end it made me stronger. I met some great people.

“But I didn’t even train with the team. I had to do my own sessions. These things are in the past and there’s no point digging up the things that have been buried. It was out of my hands.”

Asked if he was fit enough and willing to have to played for Rangers at that time, he said: “Yes of course. I wasn’t having a good time at Newcastle either in that period, so I just decided to stay there (Ibrox) and do sort of a five-month pre-season. These things happen in football.

“Obviously it’s going to be in the news this week because I was there and had the situation that happened but I’m not looking to make it a big scenario.

“It’s about Motherwell v Rangers not Bigi v Rangers. I’m looking forward to it and hopefully it will be a great day for me and the club.”

Motherwell will have to improve on Saturday’s display where they dominated for long spells but took 82 minutes before squeezing past the League Two part-timers with an Elliott Frear volley after the excellent on-loan Rangers keeper Robbie McCrorie had beaten out a Chris Cadden cross-shot.

The wee Rangers were organised and fully deserving of the praise gaffer John Coughlin heaped upon them at full-time.

And while his counterpart Stephen Robinson was satisfied with his fourth League Cup win in four matches, he knows when the other Rangers turn up they’ll have to be far sharper.

And it looks certain Well will be without the defensive experience of Stephen Hammell, who limped off with a hamstring injury after only five minutes on Saturday.

But Bigi said: “The positive thing is we won. Four games unbeaten in the group can only be good for the team. It’ll help going into the game against Rangers

“We have to be ready to give a performance. It’s not about me trying to show people what I can do. Then at the end of the season we will see if the move was right or wrong.”
