Make us an offer on Bell

DUNDEE UNITED have taken the unusual step of publicly announcing they are open to offers for club captain Cammy Bell.

Record Sport revealed yesterday Kilmarnock were closing in on the Tannadice keeper and it was understood they had launched a bid to try to take Bell back to Rugby Park for nothing.

But Bell, 30, still has a year left on his United contract.

And United boss Ray McKinnon yesterday warned Killie should forget about trying to snatch the player on the cheap, saying: “If he does leave it won’t be on a free transfer.”

The club also followed this with a short statement saying they would “listen to offers” for Bell.

He played 49 times for the Terrors last term – saving three penalties in one half last September away to Dunfermline – and captained United to Irn-Bru Cup glory in March.

Meanwhile, United could be boosted by the speedy return of James Keatings for Saturday’s Championship opener at Inverness.

The striker had been ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury but McKinnon added: “James has done a bit of training. It would be a huge bonus if he made it.” DEREK McINNES has been warned to keep his cool in the searing Cyprus heat and prepare himself for 90 minutes of relentless barracking.

The Aberdeen boss has told his team to stay calm in the intimidating AEK Arena in the return leg of their Euro qualifier against Apollon Limassol.

But ex-Newcastle manager John Carver claims McInnes himself will be the main target for some “crazy” Cypriot fans.

The Englishman spent eight months as boss of Omonia Nicosia where he signed Dons new boy Kari Arnason.

The 52-year-old knows how passionate the Cypriot fans are after his final game – against the Dons’ Euro rivals – was abandoned when trouble flared.
