Zoey:NocomplaintsoverLondontrip

-

ZOEY CLARK bowed out of the 400 metres in the semi-finals but insisted her London trip was just the ticket.

The British champion from Aberdeen delivered the quickest race of her life of 51.81 seconds to finish seventh and it was a massive leap forward ahead of next weekend’s 4x400 relay.

Clark, 22, now the sixth fastest Scot of all time, said: “I can’t really complain. It was a little messy but I can’t be angry with that. I’ve got more than I could have wanted.

“Coming in I wanted to get used to the experience and maybe there would be an outside chance of getting to the semis. I got a PB. I learned how to embrace the crowd. That ticks all the boxes.”

Jack Green exited the men’s 400m hurdles in the semis while Nathan Fox missed out on the triple jump final.

Olympic champ Omar McLeod struck world gold in the 110m hurdles in 13.04 secs ahead of Russian Sergey Shubenkov – competing here under a neutral flag – and Hungary’s Balazs Baji.

Sophie Hitchon admitted missing out on a hammer gong hit her hard as the Rio bronze medallist ended up seventh.

The Lancastrian, 26, launched a best effort of 72.32 metres with her final effort but saw Poland’s Anita Wlodarczyk make it an Olympic and world golden double.

Hitchon said: “I knew I was in better shape but I could not produce it. I am just disappointed I could not pull it out.”
