A JOGGER barges into a woman on the pavement and pushes her into the path of a bus.
Police released shocking video of the incident yesterday and described it as a deliberate attack.
The woman was left with her head hanging out into the road, inches from the bus. Its driver saved her life by swerving at the last second.
The jogger ran back past the scene 15 minutes later but ignored his victim when she tried to speak to him.
The 33-year-old woman was walking to work across Putney Bridge in south-west London at around 7.40am when the solidly built male jogger hit her.
CCTV shows him appearing to veer into the woman’s path before the impact, then using his arm to knock her over.
Sergeant Mat Knowles, who is investigating the incident, told the London Evening Standard: “This is a deliberate act. His hands come across and push her.
“She is the only person on the pavement. It is eight to 10ft wide – there is plenty of
room. Before the footage he runs through a crowded bus stop without hitting anyone.
“The victim was put in extreme danger. It was only due to the superb reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit.”
The bus stopped and passengers tended to the woman. Her physical injuries were minor but she was “distressed and upset”.
Sergeant Knowles said she tried to talk to the jogger when he ran back past her, but “he did not acknowledge her”.
The jogger is described as in his early to mid-30s with brown eyes and short brown hair. Anyone with information about him is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The assault took place on May 5. It’s not clear why it took so long to release the video. Sergeant Knowles said he and his colleagues have had several other reports since of violent acts by joggers.
