Hoodoo will help us get the job Don

-

DOUGIE IMRIE reckons the Dons dread heading to Hamilton and hopes the hoodoo continues to kickstart a rare cup run.

Accies have lost just one of five home clashes with the Pittodrie men since they returned to the top flight four seasons ago – with three wins and a draw.

Only Celtic have a better home record against Aberdeen in recent years and the Accies skipper said: “I don’t think Aberdeen like coming here.

“We’ve got a great record against them at our place. We’ve got a decent home record in general but for some reason it’s been really good against them in recent years.

“You get that sometimes. Teams have wee hoodoos or places they don’t like to play. It can create a few doubts.

“But you must give Aberdeen their due. They have been a top side in the last few years.

“We hope this place continues to be somewhere they don’t enjoy coming to. The record gives us something to build on.”

Martin Canning’s men reached the Scottish Cup quarter-finals last season but haven’t made a semi-final of either competition since the League Cup in 1979-80.

Imrie added: “The league is the big priority. But you always think how good it would be to go all the way to the semis or finals. It will be difficult but if we can get through this tie then you never know what can happen.”
