Shame of karate kid pervert

National coach bombarded shocked schoolkid with sleazy Facebook messages

A NATIONAL karate coach is in disgrace after pleading guilty to sending sexual messages to a girl of 15.

Callum Mclay, a married 53-year-old with two kids of his own, told the child: “Hope you enjoyed your massage as much as I did putting my hands on you.”

Then, after bombarding her with sordid Facebook messages, he asked her: “How do you feel about me?”

A FURIOUS mum last night demanded a lifetime ban for the pervert karate coach who sent creepy sex messages to her 15-year-old daughter.

Callum Mclay, who was named a national coach last year by the governing body of karate in Scotland, left the child horrified with a series of sleazy remarks on Facebook.

After giving her a sports massage, the married 53-yearold dad of two messaged her to say: “Hope you enjoyed your massage as much as I did putting my hands on you.”

A string of other suggestive messages – which Mclay told the girl to delete – followed.

The girl’s mum called for Mclay to be barred from working with children and slammed him for breaching her family’s trust. She said of her daughter: “She’s known him since she was about seven and I knew him a lot longer than that. He was someone we considered safe.

“This has had an impact on the whole family and we’re hoping the sentence he receives is harsh.

“It’s absolutely sickening to think he had feelings like that for a child – someone he had known since primary school. I hope he never teaches children again.”

Mclay runs a karate school and massage business in West Lothian and boasts of being a full member of the Scottish Massage Therapists’ Organisation. His website says he is a Massage in Schools instructor dealing with kids aged four to 12.

The schoolgirl was dropped off at his home on March 11 this year for a pre-arranged massage.

Later that day, Mclay sent her the message which said he had enjoyed putting his hands on her.

He followed that up with a second message: “Hope I didn’t embarrass you too much LOL.”

Then he sent a third message which said: “Don’t tell T*** [another girl] about this as she will be mortified that I have messaged you.”

Moments later, Mclay messaged the girl again to say: “Remember, delete all messages.”

The girl did delete the messages – but only after her granny took a note of their contents.

Mclay, Scotland’s national coach for kata karate, sent the girl more messages soon after midnight on Sunday, March 12.

The first said: “Goodnight. I might be pi**ed, but missing you xx.” The girl replied: “Night.”

Mclay asked her, “How are you still awake?” and she said she was staying at a friend’s house.

He replied: “You never said. You could have stayed at mine xc”. The girl replied: “Ha ha.” Mclay then said: “Me and you need to have a serious chat… xxx.”

The girl asked why, and he answered: “How do you feel about me? Be honest xx.”

Shocked, the girl said: “What?!” Mclay replied: “Later xx.”

The girl told her mum in the morning about the messages and police were called.

Mclay told officers he had been watching rugby with friends and was drunk when the messages were sent. His wife and kids were away and he was alone at home.

He admitted sending all the messages and said he could see how “they might be construed”.

But he blamed his actions on drink and said he only asked the girl to delete them in case they were misinterpreted.

Chillingly, Mclay claimed there had been “previous flirtations” with the girl . He did not say what would have happened if she had come to his house.

He pled guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to sending sexually suggestive electronic messages to the child. Sheriff Susan Craig bailed him to await sentence next month and put him on the sex offenders’ register.

Mclay refused to comment outside court and hid under his wife’s umbrella, even though the weather was dry.

Mclay: “Hope you enjoyed your massage as much as I did putting my hands on you.”

And then: “Hope I didn’t embarrass you too much LOL”

Followed by: “Don’t tell T*** (another girl known to the victim and Mclay) about this as she will be mortified that I have messaged you.”

Fourth and last message: “Remember, delete all messages.”
