Green is on trend for style ace Henry

- KATIE WRIGHT

BRITISH designer Henry Holland became famous for saucy tees with slogans like “let’s play naked Twister Linda Evangelista”.

But his latest creations have a more serious purpose.

The House of Holland boss is using his star status to rid the planet of plastic, one water bottle at a time.

In collaboration with BRITA and the #SwapForGood campaign, the 34-year-old has designed two limited edition T-shirts, made from salvaged cotton and recycled plastics, with profits going to the Marine Conservation Society.

“Single use plastic is never fantastic,” declares one of the T-shirts, encouraging people to swap disposable water bottles for a reusable alternative.

Henry reckons fashion is a prime offender when it comes to green issues.

He said: “I think it’s one of the highest industries in terms of pollution and damage to the environment, so it’s something that we need to address.

“The Cowspiracy documentary made me question my practices. It really opened my eyes to a lot of different things.

“We’ve been around 10 years, we’re not a small, young operation any more, We need to take more care in our practices and our ethics.”

House of Holland’s London Fashion Week show will as usual be graced by famous faces in the front row.

But Henry gives the same fashion advice to everyone.

He said: “Dress for yourself and nobody else. Feeling comfortable in your outfits is like feeling comfortable in your own skin.” ●Henry’s T-shirts for BRITA’s #swapforgood campaign, cost £35 from the House of Holland website.
