STV, 9pm THINK of Brighton and it conjures up thoughts of a buzzing party city by the sea. But narrator Philip Glenister warns: “Beneath it is a criminal underbelly.”

According to Brighton police officers, there is a lot of organised crime, robberies and stabbings.

Cue another reminder of our amazing emergency services, as this two-parter follows cops on the beat.

Tonight’s episode shows us a scary armed robbery at a betting shop, during which two masked men hold a gun to the manager’s chest and make off with the contents of the till.

Detective Sergeant Julie Greenwood is confident they will strike again, saying: “They get cocky, and think, ‘Oh we’ve got away with that one’.”

Meanwhile, after a six-month undercover operation, officers are closing in on a gang who they believe are controllin­g much of the class A drug supply in the city.

PC Rob Staplehurs­t says: “Fighting with someone who’s had a lot of cocaine up their nose is not a lot of fun, so this is good for us to get this off the streets.”

C4, 9pm THIS could have been called Gogglecar because eight families have had their cars rigged with multiple cameras, allowing us to eavesdrop on their conversati­ons.

But, more specifical­ly, it’s a snapshot of relationsh­ips between parents and their teenagers, during both the bad times and the good.
