Teenager accused of sexual extortion of United chairman Thompson
Girl, 19, ‘wanted £550 or she would expose his infidelity’
A GIRL of 19 is to stand trial accused of blackmailing Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson over sex.
Aisling Ironside told Thompson she would “expose his infidelity to the media and his family” unless he paid her £550, it is claimed.
Prosecutors say she demanded the cash “with the intention of menacing Stephen Thompson and putting him in a state of alarm”.
And they allege that she left him fearing “public humiliation and personal reputational harm” if he did not pay up.
Ironside, of Nellfield Place, Aberdeen, allegedly committed the offence over five days in November last year at Thompson’s home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, and other addresses. She faces a single charge of extortion.
Neither she nor Thompson were at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday for a brief procedural hearing.
Prosecutor Trina Sinclair asked for the case to be continued without plea for three weeks so court papers could be personally served on Ironside.
Sheriff Pino di Emidio agreed to the request and continued the case until a date in September.
