A holiday without breaking the bank

- CRAIG SWAN c.swan@dailyrecord.co.uk

GLAMPING is short for glamorous camping.

With travel options these days getting more expensive, this cost-effective way to enjoy a break is becoming extremely popular within the UK and across Europe.

Going with Ready Camp, it’s little wonder it’s often a must-tick on the bucket list.

Take everything you remember about camping and bin it. The cold nights on the hard floor, boiling kettles over lighted fires to make tea or heat a pot of beans, fumbling around in the dark. All gone.

With Ready Camp, you get the beauty of the outdoors in outstanding settings mixed with the crucial comforts of home.

Imagine being at one with nature, unzipping the tent and stepping out into the sunshine every morning, while at the same time having just climbed out of a comfy bed, flicked the kettle on for a cuppa, turned the hob to make bacon which XXXXXXhas been xxxxxx chilling in the fridge and unpluggingXxxx your phone which has been charging in a plug point.

Each glamping tent is permanently erected on site with outdoor decking. Each has two bedrooms with proper beds and mattresses plus a bunk bed and pull-out bed.

The living area has a sofa and dining table and chairs. The kitchen area has a fridge, microwave, hob, basic cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.

There are lights, an electric socket, heater and free wifi in all tents. BBQs are allowed outside.

Washroom facilities are available at all locations and are immaculate. Bedding and towels are all you need.

With units capable of taking six people and costing from just £28 per night, it’s a magnificent chance to get away and fill your days with fun without emptying your bank account.

Ready Camp have 39 spots across the UK, with three of them in majestic settings in Scotland.

Each one is in a prime location, with Milarrochy Bay on Loch Lomond, Scone in Perthshire and Culzean Castle near Ayr offering a mix of the best Scotland has to offer.

If you prefer to get out of Scotland to give an additional feel to the holiday, the north of England has several with few as pretty as the sites around the Lake Windermere area.

By day, you can take a cruise up and down the waters with Lake Windermere Cruises, who provide terrific access and sightseeing trips.

Along the drop-off points is Lakeside, where you can pick up the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and enjoy a ride on a steam engine, which the kids will love. Almost as much as they’ll love the Beatrix Potter Attraction.

The adults have a huge choice of excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes where they can unwind before returning to the site.

With the comfy beds and strict rules demanding quiet after 11pm, the sites are superbly run and a safe place for kids to play.

Thanks to Ready Camp, glamping is a wonderful addition to the holiday and short-break choice and is an adventure you have to experience.
