King: We’re in no rush to see off City

-

BILLY KING last night urged Dundee United fans to be patient – and not to expect them to simply sweep past minnows Brechin.

The winger is relishing today’s clash at Tannadice with Darren Dods’s part-timers aiming for a third straight league win having hit the ground running.

League leaders United have already notched back-to-back wins over Inverness and Queen of the South and know they’re heavily fancied to dispose of today’s Angus visitors.

But former Hearts ace King has asked their supporters to put the brakes on and resists thinking it will be a walkover.

King said: “I’ve played in this league before for a season and a half with Hearts and Rangers and it can be hard at home.

“It could be frustrating for the fans but hopefully we can get an early goal in the first half an hour then things can open up.

“Then we can look to play the sort of football we want to and know we’re good at. Sure, the fans can get frustrated if we don’t have a goal inside the first half an hour but sometimes you have to be patient and wait for that opening.

“We’re strong favourites going into this game. There’s that added pressure of it being a must-win game but it’s about how you mentally prepare.

“We have to block out all that stuff and just work out a way to get the three points.”

Brechin boss Dods is under no illusions about the size of task facing his side.

He said: “We know United are a good side. Tannadice is a difficult place to go to but hopefully we can rise to the challenge on the day.”
