Gordon: We’ll stay on full steam while living Euro dream

- MICHAEL GANNON

CRAIG GORDON insists Celtic won’t take his foot off the gas on the home front just because they are motoring into the Champions League.

The Parkhead men are still celebrating a thumping win against Astana but are determined to keep up their incredible unbeaten run at Kilmarnock today.

Celts haven’t lost a domestic match since May 2016 – a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone – and are now 50 games unbeaten under Brendan Rodgers.

Gordon said: “We just keep going, we can’t afford to look any further forward.

“It’s Kilmarnock so we look to win that one. If we win that one we move on to the next one. That’s the only way to look at it. If you start looking further ahead, for the slip-up, that’s when it’s going to happen.

“With the resources we have, the videos, everyone behind the scenes, it is all focused on the next game.

“We have information, we know what we have to do, and we just concentrate on that game. If we keep preparing and respecting everyone then we give ourselves a great chance to keep the run going. We’re trying to make sure we won’t be complacent after such a big win.

“Our talk is always about being relentless and this is the type of occasion to show that. We’re coming off a big result, away from home on that surface.

“We’re ready for it and

we’re confident we’ll take the three points to keep our run going.”

Gordon is also looking forward to going up against his old Hearts teammate Jamie MacDonald at the opposite end of the pitch.

The Rugby Park keeper has won his place back and the Hoops No.1 knows he will be a hard man to beat.

Gordon said: “I know him well and still keep in touch with him. He came through the ranks below me at Hearts and we worked a lot together.

“He was having a fairly good season when he lost his place to a loan signing.

“But Jamie’s one of the best shotstoppers in the league. He’s solid and Kilmarnock are lucky to have him.”
