KILMARNOCK have been boosted by the signings of Eamonn Brophy and Brad Spencer ahead of their clash with Celtic.

Scotland Under-21 striker Brophy, 21, who scored seven goals in 66 appearances for Hamilton, has penned a three-year deal.

Spencer, the son of former Rangers and Chelsea star John, has signed a one-year deal from Houston Dynamo to take Killie gaffer Lee McCulloch’s summer signings up to 12.

Both players go straight into the squad for their Rugby Park showdown with the Hoops this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Greg Taylor is hoping to emulate the brilliance of Brazil to break his Kilmarnock hoodoo against Celtic.

The Rugby Park defender may have scored a winner for Scotland’s Under-20 side against the young Samba superstars in the summer but he’s yet to bag a goal for his club.

Taylor can think of no better time to bust his Killie jinx than against the big guns in front of a live TV audience.

He said: “It was a successful summer at the Toulon Tournament and scoring a goal like that brings confidence.

“This would be a good time to get one for my club. I’m 37 games without a goal. Not good enough. I’m taking a bit of abuse from the boys!

“The gaffer is a winner and he thinks he can win every game, no matter who we play. No one has beaten Celtic for a long time but we’ll try.”

Gaffer McCulloch echoed Taylor’s thoughts on the size of the task after Celtic’s Champions League play-off destruction of Astana.

Killie also lost 5-0 at Parkhead 11 days ago in the Betfred Cup and he said: “It’s the toughest test in Scottish football. We need to be on the top of our game and them to have an off day but I’m quietly confident.”
