HARKINS IS TONROAMIN’

Gaz wants to stay for life

- INVERNESS CT v MORTON GORDON PARKS

GARY HARKINS insists he’s ready to commit to Morton for life after finding home comforts at Cappielow.

The 32-year-old Greenock-based midfielder made the switch from Ayr this summer and he’s adamant it’s rejuvenated his hunger for the game ahead of their trip to Inverness.

He said: “Morton boss Jim Duffy spoke to me about the chance to move and it was a great opportunity so I jumped at it.

“I knew all about his reputation as a top-class manager and I understand why he has that now I’ve had the chance to work with him. I’ve been nothing but impressed during the time here.

“It’s the happiest I’ve felt in a long time and it’s the perfect pick-me-up after a few difficult seasons. If I stay here until I finish playing I’ll be delighted as it’s a club that’s progressing.

“Apart from our loss to Livingston in midweek the performances have been good.

“We’ve started with a draw to Dumbarton and getting a point at their place is never the worst result and we followed that with a 4-1 win at home to St Mirren which was a big statement.

“They are one of the favourites for the title so to put in the performance we did was great.

“Inverness are another fancied to do well and I know from experience in the Highlands just how difficult it is to take points. They still have a strong squad from last season so it’s a tough one but if we can get something it’ll be a boost.”
