Warped Brexit Britain in shameful state
FOR conclusive proof of the warped priorities of Brexiteers, look no further than yesterday’s immigration figures.
The right-wingers were cock-a-hoop to learn net migration in the year to March was 246,000, a decrease of 81,000 compared with 2016.
Fewer foreigners are coming, cheered Nigel Farage’s brainless acolytes, hooray!
The statisticians said the reduction was mostly down to EU citizens leaving the country. Hardly surprising given how we’ve treated them recently.
But the Brexiteers are delighted Britain has turned itself into such a horrible, inward-looking little country that fewer people want to live here.
What a shameful state of affairs.
Meanwhile, Theresa May had to apologise after admitting the Home Office made an “unfortunate error” when they mistakenly sent up to 100 letters to EU nationals ordering them to leave the country or face deportation.
And it also emerged the UK does not have a major problem with foreign students abusing the immigration system after all.
It was previously thought up to 100,000 of the students overstayed their visa. It’s now thought the real figure is closer to 4000.
Britain has been preoccupied with a poisonous shouting match about immigration for years and the Brexit vote was the tragic end result. Now we find the data underpinning the debate wasn’t even accurate.
In summary, Britain is now unattractive to foreigners and governed by inept clowns.
What a victory.
