Crocked Calluma worryfor Archibald

- GORDON PARKS g.parks@dailyrecord.co.uk

PARTICK THISTLE boss Alan Archibald admits he’s been forced back into the transfer market after Callum Booth was ruled out for three months.

The defender has torn knee ligaments and the Jags are now searching for a replacement left-back.

It’s another headache for Archibald whose side have yet to put any points on the board after three games.

The Thistle boss said: “We finished our recruiting last week but Callum has now done his knee so we might have to get a bit of cover in there.

“We were unlucky with the timing. We had just let young James Penrice go out on loan to Livingston.

“Callum’s looking at 12 weeks out so we might look at a six-month loan deal or a free agent. It’s a blow as he gives us consistency and a lot going forward.

“The good thing is that we’ve got Christie Elliott, Stuart Bannigan and Blair Spittal so we’ve got options.”

Archibald’s immediate concern is a home clash with Aberdeen tomorrow as they bid to get off the mark and he admits a losing habit could be punished.

He said: “It’s a tough league this year but everyone will have a bad run. We’re having ours right now but a prolonged run I don’t think you’ll get away with too much.

“We need to get off zero points as soon as we can. The longer it goes on it eats into confidence.”
