JURAS-SICK & TIRED OF DINO ROARS

T-rex show noise upsets locals

ANGRY residents have bared their teeth to complain about the sound of dinosaurs from a visitor attraction.

Thirty full-sized prehistoric creatures that move and roar at regular intervals have proved a nuisance to people living near the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow.

Organisers of the Jurassic Kingdom exhibition believed the attraction would be well received because “everyone loves dinosaurs”.

But some residents say the dinos are too noisy and have asked for the sound effects to be turned down.

One asked the organisers to completely silence the models.

Karen Leeson, who lives on Wilton Street, said she could hear the roars from all parts of her flat.

She added: “There’s wailing a couple of times a minute all day long.

“I’ve really tried not to let it bother me but it does. No matter where I go, I keep hearing it.

“They should give us free tickets as compensation.”

Another resident said: “On the first day, I thought there might be someone in trouble. I even considered calling the police until the penny dropped.

“I spoke to a friend with young children who said they were frightened of it, mainly because of the noise.”

Another resident, Gillian Gleeson, said: “I’ve tweeted them to turn it off.

“They’ve tweeted this, ‘Did you know the Parasaurolophus produced a trumpet-like sound for communication and as a warning signal?’

“At least we now know who the culprit is.”

Naz Kabir, Jurassic Kingdom’s events director, promised to step in.

He said: “I will speak to the production team and ask them to turn down the volume on some of the louder dinosaurs.”
