‘Bruno Alves and the rest of the Rangers defenders will need unravelled as Patrick Roberts will have them tied in knots ’

supporters are being a bit gullible here as the club really ought to have bought Roberts with the amount of money they have raked in.”

James Colven, Arbroath, said: “For months all I have read about is the millions of pounds Celtic have banked and what they will get from UEFA. Why don’t they just buy a player like Roberts then?”

On to Rangers and John Montador, Alloa, reckons Pedro Caixinha’s side are destined for great things.

He said: “Having watched Rangers against Ross County, I firmly believe if we keep playing like that we will be in a European final very soon.”

But Mike MacRae, Aberdeen, said: “One look at the Premiership table proves Caixinha can’t be taken seriously. For the Rangers manager to predict Aberdeen were at the end of their ‘cycle’ has proved his comments are only adding to global warming rather than offering any logical opinion.”

Craig Levein’s appointment as the new Hearts manager has not gone down well with some Jambos.

Liz Comrie, Edinburgh, said: “Ann Budge has made a huge mistake in appointing Levein as the new Hearts coach. He is everything that is wrong with Hearts at the moment. The club reeks of cronyism as we have all his pals in posts at the club.

“Its about time Budge woke up and smelled the coffee. Tommy Wright was the man for Hearts. He would have sorted things right out at Tynecastle.”

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Budge has sold us all a pup by appointing a yes man in Levein. So much for the 100 ‘quality’ applicants, many of whom were too ambitious for Budge’s parochial directorship. She wouldn’t be able to handle an ambitious manager.”

Ben Robertson, Cumbernauld, said: “Scottish football is a total circus and the ringmaster is Levein. Budge’s appointment of Levein is a disgrace and she has been clearly hoodwinking the Hearts fans.

“It is obvious to everybody that Levein has been picking the Hearts team for a while and now he has landed the top job. It defies belief.”
