REESE Witherspoon never seems to age. The star was at the premiere of her new film Home Again in LA and looked as flawless and young as ever.

Here’s how to recreate the 41-year-old’s look. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Carmen, £25, narscosmetics.co.uk You can choose the perfect red lipstick no matter your age. But be sure to get the right formula that’s not too matte – try this one from NARS. Reese knows that a creamy peach blush will keep her looking young and fresh. This budgetfriendly one bags awards. GOT your matte lipstick on? You might want to rethink that for the autumn-winter season with new formulas aplenty hitting counters.

If you are a matte fan, don’t panic, it’s not going anywhere. But there’s always time for something new – and the main trend this autumn is lip contouring.

Smashbox launched their Be Legendary Triple Tone Lipstick (£17.50) this month, a triple-tone ombre effect lipstick with a demi-matte finish, to add a whole new dimension to your mouth.

It contours the lips, creating an ombre effect with no complicated tutorials. You just do the top lip first, from centre to corner on both sides, then flip the lipstick and do the bottom. It’s in four shades – nude, berry, red and sunset.

Guerlain are also doing lip contouring with their new KissKiss From Paris palette (£44).

It comes in two shades – Passionate Kiss reds and Romantic Kiss pinks – and each contains a base and three rich, creamy textures to allow you to enhance your lips, define the lip contour and apply complementary colours to create a sort of 3D look.

They also launch a KissKiss Matte Lipstick (£27.50) – with hyaluronic acid for moisturising, and a chilli derivative to add a plumping effect – in nine shades.

Their KissKiss Intense Liquid Matte (£25), in seven shades, completes their new trio.

Givenchy launch their Rouge Sculpt (£28) next month. It’s a two-tone lipstick, each with a luminous shade on one side and a graphic contour on the other, to perfectly frame the mouth.

Bare Minerals are all about the Statement Lip this autumn with their collection of that name. There are 25 bold shades in three finishes – Matte Liquid Lipcolor (£17), Luxe-Shine Lipstick (£18) and Under Over Lip Liner (£14).

Scottish celebrity makeup artist and owner of The Academy of Makeup Sara Hill believes there are two other key lip trends.

“I think we’re looking at quite diverse looks – a ‘no lip’ lip, and a bold, metallic look,” she said. “The ‘no lip’ lip is basically about a bare lip – lip balm and a little nude pencil will create this look, just rubbed in with your fingers to give a just-bitten, morning look.

“The metallic effect lip was created by makeup artist Pat McGrath, who used foil, a white bold highlight and a wet gloss.

“I’d use my Sara Hill Red Rocket lip gloss (£18) and a pop of my Opal pigment in pink (£17) to add the highlight.”

MAC launched a full range of Metallic Lipsticks (£16.50) earlier this year, with 18 shades – including blues and greens.

If you want something truly high shine, Too Faced’s Melted Latex lips are for you. This liquid formula comes in 16 shades.

Bobbi Brown are taking the lipstick back to its more traditional look and feel with their Crushed Lip Color, out in October.

This hybrid balm/lipstick has a slight matte effect but is rich and nourishing, thanks to Vitamins E and C and beeswax. It’s in 20 shades, from nudes to deep berry.

If you really can’t bear anything but a matte finish, then there is NARS’s new Powermatte Lips – in 20 shades including matte black.
