FILLY WILL LIGHT UP SKY

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

COSMIC SKY can star for the shrewd Tim Easterby on another cracking card at Musselburgh.

The three-year-old (4.35) took a while to find her form this term but produced a career best when landing a competitive Thirsk handicap last time.

The form of last month’s race has worked out pretty well and the filly can shrug off a 6lb hike with that victory under her belt.

Ollie Pears’s PLACEBO EFFECT (2.0) can be a real tonic for punters in a trappy nursery. A dual winner this season, the two-year-old took the spoils at Ripon then Catterick in the space of five days last month.

The juvenile then ran a blinder when third over six furlongs at Thirsk two weeks ago and can return to his best back up in trip.

CLARAMARA (2.30) can continue Mark Johnston’s fine run in division two of the nursery.

The Epaulette filly caught the eye when a good second on her first try at seven furlongs in a Thirsk novice event a fortnight ago and can do plenty of damage in handicaps.

Team Johnston can also land the feature EBF Fillies’ Handicap with a thriving PEACH MELBA (4.0).

The three-year-old slammed the classy Harba at Lingfield last week to complete a hat-trick and will take all the beating once again despite a 5lb penalty.

Top-weight RASELASAD (3.0) looks the safest bet in the Brown Shipley Handicap. Tracy Waggott’s gelding ran better than the bare result when fifth at Thirsk and can get the better of some out-of-form rivals.

And the Durham handler can double up when HADLEY (5.10) takes the closing Scott Coppola Handicap. The consistent four-year-old bolted up in a strong Thirsk contest last time and can follow up thanks to young Ben Robinson’s 5lb claim.

ERINYES (3.30) can strike for Lambourn handler Archie Watson in the DAM Wealth Handicap.

The filly made little impression when coming home 11th in a messy Listed event at Newmarket earlier this month but she is useful at best and can benefit from this steep drop in class.

■ RAVEN’S LADY (2.50) can swoop under Ryan Moore in the Charlotte Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Chelmsford.

Marco Botti’s filly has been upwardly mobile in handicaps and after two wins from six runs this year can build on her fine third behind the classy Queen Kindly in a Pontefract Listed event last time.
