TESCO MUM A BIG WINNER AT CARDS

-

DO YOU have a store loyalty card that dishes out points you’re too busy or forgetful to cash in? Then it’s time to be more like Tesco Clubcard queen Jane Jeffrey.

The mum of three has been using her points to pay for trips to theme parks, pampering spa days and family weekends away.

And now she’s saving them for a trip to America next summer for her son’s wedding in California.

Tesco – who have just launched a contactless loyalty card – reckon Jane’s remarkable 22 years as their savviest Clubcard holder is sure to inspire around 16.5million other card carriers to use rather than lose their points.

Teaching assistant Jane, 50, who lives with husband Lee, 43, and their two younger sons said: “If you plan, save and are wise over how you use the points, you can make them go further than just a like-for-like exchange.

“I always trade up by waiting for the points to treble or quadruple in value before cashing them in.”

Her poker game with Tesco has already seen her snap up a £1000 Tag Heuer watch for £250 just by hanging on for a quadruple points offer at Goldsmiths. She’s bagged passes to Chessington World of Adventure worth £49 with £12.50 worth of points, while Longleat Safari Park cost just £9 in points compared with the usual price of £29.

Jane also treated her mum to a day at health retreat Champneys.

And last Christmas the whole family enjoyed skating at an outdoor ice rink, dinner, a visit to see Santa and an overnight stay in London.

The family spend an average of £500 a month on groceries at Tesco and Jane said: “Friends and family think it’s amusing I am such an avid Clubcarder but it’s easy to do and the rewards are worth it.

“I have a folder with all my points in chronological order and I tot them up every quarter. My next big project is to put them towards the cost of a hotel stay in America when my son gets married next year.”

Jane – mum to Alex, 31, Jack, 25 and Leo, 11 – added: “Cash Queens readers should make their points work for them and not let them melt away.

“You have two years before you get timed out so there’s plenty of time to save for something special.”
