My side is fit for purpose

- GAVIN BERRY

PEDRO CAIXINHA insists he has total belief in his training methods despite Michael O’Halloran claiming they lacked intensity.

The Rangers boss was responding to the Light Blues winger, currently on loan at St Johnstone, who said Caixinha’s sessions weren’t demanding.

O’Halloran said he put in extra work on his own to maintain peak fitness but Caixinha isn’t concerned about the comments from a player who will return to Gers in January.

Asked if he was happy with his training the Portuguese said: “It is not a question of being happy or disappointed.

“It’s a question of believing in it, of knowing that this is the right way. You have a lot of ways to work, a lot of methodologies.

“Each coach has their own. So I believe in my own, totally, 100 per cent. It is improving day by day. I respect the opinion from Michael and I wish him all the best.

“Ultimately, he is our player. The better he will do with St Johnstone the better he’ll return with us. So I really hope he does better.”

O’Halloran also said he was disappointed to learn Caixinha closed the door on his Gers career by reading it in newspapers.

But Caixinha said: “I just want you to know I’m an up-front guy. I’m a clear guy.

“There are some players who fit with different clubs and different approaches, different managers as well. I need to respect that.

“I just said, and I say it again, that we’re looking for different types of players because we need those different types to perform the game we want from our team. That’s all.”
