SCOTLAND were last night celebrating another crucial win after the Slovenian FA doubled the Tartan Army’s ticket allocation for the final World Cup qualifier next month.

Gordon Strachan’s men will now be roared on by over 2500 members of the Tartan Army after initially being handed only 1230 briefs for the October 8 clash at the Arena Petrol in Celje.

The Slovenians, however, have also warned the Tartan Army they will be refused entry to the ground if they have purchased tickets for the home end.

A Scottish FA statement read: “The Slovenian FA has confirmed that they are increasing our allocation of tickets to 2567 tickets.

“The Slovenian FA has informed us that any Scotland fans who have purchased a ticket for the home end will have their ticket cancelled and will not be allowed to enter the stadium without an official away end ticket.” for us to do it and get back into the Premiership so we just want to prove against Dumbarton that we have got the St Mirren game out of our system.”

Sons boss Stevie Aitken is hoping his men can repeat last season’s heroics when they took seven points from 12 against United.

Aitken said: “It was a great achievement and if we can yield anything like that again then it will go a long way to helping us stay in this division.

“I’m well aware that was then and this is now.

“Dundee United have their own agenda this season and want to win the title.

“However, Dumbarton thrive on being the underdogs in these kind of games.

“We are the underdogs every week in this league and all I can ask is that my players give everything that they have got.”

● The SPFL have confirmed United’s Irn-Bru Cup third-round tie against Linfield will take place on Saturday, October 7 at Tannadice with a 5.15pm kick-off.

The match will be shown live on BBC Alba.
