Mafia fears of mystery fall tourist
A SCOTS tourist who died in a mysterious fall in Turkey made a chilling phone call to his family just days before his death, claiming he was being chased by the Mafia.
An inquest heard Billy Wallace, 35, rang his father in a panic from a hospital bed in Marmaris in 2015 after he suffered a broken ankle.
The electrician claimed “someone was after him” and said he got injured when he leapt out of a moving taxi because he feared he was being kidnapped.
Billy, of Edinburgh, later jumped out of a window at the medical centre. He was then moved to a hospital in Izmir, where he again fell from a window.
He died two days later. Tests showed no traces of drugs or alcohol in his system.
A coroner in Manchester recorded an open verdict yesterday.
